I doubt I'll be going back to it, but it's definitely recommended for less than the cost of a pint.This achievement is super easy to get, and you’ll probably get it your first playthrough. The sound design and radio crackles were especially well done. Still, overall I thought the game was surprisingly atmospheric and suitably creepy in places (although, as has been mentioned, Alex's sang-froid in the face of so much supernatural phenomena, given that she's a highschool student, pushed the bounds of credibility somewhat). #Oxenfree best ending how to#It would have been better if you found one of them (and found out how to look for the others) earlier in the game as this would have encouraged me to hunt then all down. Looking at a couple of wikis, I think in order to make more sense of it and therefore get more from it you needed to have found the letters that are buried over the island, but I didn't even know they were there in the first place until I stumbled over one right near the end. The story started off very well but lost me a bit towards the end. As others have said, the voice-acting is very good and I liked the characters, despite being afraid initially that I wouldn't be able to put up with their, like, totally American accents. I played through this game on Switch on a few sittings over the weekend and enjoyed it. Here are the results of my choices btw (which the game doesn't showcase after completion oddly enough so hammer that screenshot button when you're done). So I'll probably finish it a second time to see what I've missed, get the remaining collectables and find out if there are new ways to influence the narrative now. Also I just started a new game real quick and immediately spotted some changes in dialogue already. While at first the island looked rather small there are still some areas left to explore apparently. And while it took me about 4 hours to 'finish' the game it seems I've still got a ways to go as I've only found one letter out of 12 and didn't get all of the other collectables either. By the end it was a genuine surprise to see I had changed certain outcomes of the story itself. things? However, unlike The Walking Dead or LiS, this does a real good job of not outright showing you and/or telegraphing the choices you make throughout the game. It's kind of hard to talk about it without giving away mechanics or story elements though (so stop reading if you want to know absolutely nothing). I guess it's sort of like a mix between Riven, Life is Strange and David Lynch. And I'm glad I didn't look up much before buying it as it's definitely one of those games where it's best to go in blind. ![]() Aside from a few bits of shoddy writing and voice acting I thought this was really good and well worth my time and money. It's got stellar audio design, an interesting and engrossing story, unsettling atmosphere, and manages to subvert certain genre conventions in a way I've not yet seen before. Just finished this after picking it up on the *super* cheap on Steam. ![]()
